Trump’s Social Media Meltdown
Former President Donald Trump engaged in a pathetic display on social media as he told Fox News that he is all they will ever need. Trump took to Truth Social to express his discontent with the network, particularly criticizing the presence of Paul Ryan, a Republican politician, on the Board of Directors of Fox News.
Trump’s post on Truth Social read, “Nobody can ever trust Fox News, and I am one of them, with the weak and ineffective RINO, Paul Ryan, on its Board of Directors. He’s a total lightweight, a failed and pathetic Speaker of the House, and a very disloyal person. Romney was bad, but Paul Ryan made him look worse. As a team, they never had a chance. Rupert and Lachlan, get that dog off your Board – You don’t need him. ALL YOU NEED IS TRUMP. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
This outburst from Trump can be seen as a sad and desperate plea for total loyalty from a network that has already shown significant support for him. However, the underlying message is crucial for voters to grasp – Trump cannot handle any form of criticism or disagreement. By targeting Paul Ryan, who has occasionally criticized Trump, the former president is demanding absolute loyalty from Fox News.
Fox News Needs More Than Trump
Despite Trump’s claims, Fox News’s ratings have shown that they require more than just the former president. In the past, when Fox provided extensive coverage of Trump’s events, their ratings actually dropped. This indicates that the network’s audience seeks a variety of content beyond just Trump.
Trump’s insistence on Fox’s unwavering support reveals that he has not learned from his defeat to Biden in 2020. Instead of broadening his appeal, Trump is doubling down on his conservative media base, hoping that it will be sufficient for a future victory.
It is evident that Donald Trump, known for his authoritarian tendencies, struggles to handle any form of criticism. His behavior mirrors that of autocrats who cannot tolerate dissent, further highlighting his need for constant validation.
