Truth Social, Donald Trump’s Social Media Platform, Experiences Widespread Outage
On Thursday, Truth Social, the social media platform launched by former President Donald Trump in 2022, faced a significant outage. This occurrence was particularly ill-timed as Trump was in the midst of actively posting (or “Truth-ing” as per the platform’s terminology) about President Joe Biden’s State of the Union speech at that moment.
Trump had been posting a series of tweets before the outage occurred, expressing his displeasure with Biden’s remarks regarding the insurrection on January 6th and the status of IVF as a legal procedure in Alabama. Some of Trump’s notable statements before the outage include:
- THE DRUGS ARE WEARING OFF!
- All Reduction Pricing was done by us, and kicked in after we left!
- He is so angry and crazy!
- The so-called “Insurrectionists” that he talks about had no guns, they only had a Rigged Election.
- He did nothing for all the Veterans Administration or the Veterans—it was all TRUMP!
- He looks so angry when he’s talking, which is a trait of people who know they are “losing it.” The anger and shouting is not helpful to bringing our Country back together!
It is crucial to mention that the majority of Trump’s assertions are inaccurate, especially regarding the insurrectionists on January 6, 2021, as some of them were armed and even discharged firearms outside the Capitol.
Following Biden’s fiery speech, where the president exhibited considerable energy to combat criticisms of his age, Trump, who is almost the same age, displayed signs of mental decline in recent months. This contrast in energy levels seemingly unsettled Trump.
Interestingly, despite numerous user reports on Down Detector indicating issues with Truth Social, the platform’s own status page did not reflect any problems. The site resumed normal operation as Biden concluded his speech.
Amidst Biden’s address wrapping up, Trump managed to push out some new posts on Truth Social:
- THIS IS LIKE A SHOUTING MATCH, EVERY LINE IS BEING SHOUTED.
- WHAT HAPPENED TO NANCY?
- Don’t shake his hand, he’s been coughing into it the entire night!
Given Trump’s history, he should certainly understand the importance of avoiding individuals who are coughing excessively.
