Just six days prior to this announcement, Hill (12-0-0) had the opportunity to headline UFC 300, a historic event in the world of mixed martial arts. Unfortunately, he faced defeat at the hands of current champion Alex Pereira, marking a setback in his career. This loss came after Hill had been forced to relinquish his title due to an achilles injury the previous year. His most recent victory, a third-round knockout against Anthony Smith in December 2023, showcased his skill and determination. Despite his impressive record, Rountree’s experience on PPV cards is limited, with his last appearance on such a platform dating back to UFC 257 in 2021.
