On Sunday, in Gulf Shores, Alabama, the top-ranked USC beach volleyball team secured their fourth consecutive championship victory with a decisive 3-0 sweep over the No. 2 UCLA team. This victory marked a historic moment in the sport as it was the first championship since the NCAA officially recognized beach volleyball in 2016, where all five matches went to a third game.
Under the leadership of head coach Dain Blanton, USC has dominated the beach volleyball scene, winning six out of the eight championships since the sport’s inception in the NCAA. UCLA, the only other team to claim victory in the championship, won titles in 2018 and 2019.
