2024 John R. Wooden Award Finalists
Reigning Wooden Award winner Zach Edey and Tennessee star Dalton Knecht are part of the 15 finalists on the men’s national ballot announced during ESPN’s “College GameDay.”
Edey, the 7-foot-4 center from Purdue, is the front-runner to win the Wooden Award for the second straight year after an impressive season averaging 24.1 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. He aims to be the first repeat winner since 1983.
Knecht, a standout for Tennessee, is a strong contender with notable performances, including multiple 30+ point games. His season average of 20.7 points increases to 24.6 in conference play, showcasing his prowess especially from beyond the arc.
Other notable candidates include RJ Davis of North Carolina, known for his scoring ability, and Jamal Shead of Houston, a defensive stalwart. Tyler Kolek of Marquette, the nation’s assist leader, and Caleb Love of Arizona, have also made significant impacts this season.
Two unexpected additions to the national ballot are Jamal Shead and Mark Sears of Alabama. Sears has been on a scoring spree lately, averaging 21.1 points with impressive shooting percentages.
