While the C64 keyboard pays tribute to its predecessor, it also incorporates modern features for enhanced functionality. With a focus on gaming, the keyboard ditches the number pad to accommodate today’s standard navigation keys. The device offers versatile connectivity options, including USB-C to USB-A, 2.4 GHz wireless USB-A dongle, and Bluetooth 5.0. Boasting a 2000 mAh battery, the keyboard promises an impressive 200 hours of usage on a single charge.
The compact design of the C64 keyboard, measuring 6.7 inches in height and weighing only 2.31 pounds, makes it a sleek and portable option compared to the bulky vintage keyboards of yesteryears.

Targeting gamers, 8BitDo includes a pair of large buttons and a joystick for an arcade-style gaming experience. These programmable controls, termed as Super Buttons and joystick, offer customization options, including macros, without the need for additional software.
However, it is worth noting that the C64 keyboard is compatible with Windows 10 and Android 9.0 or higher, excluding Apple devices. The software for programming the keyboard and creating profiles does not officially support Apple operating systems.

While premium mechanical keyboards often opt for PBT keycaps for improved grip and durability, the choice of doubleshot ABS aligns with the authenticity of the original Commodore 64 keyboard.
Additionally, 8BitDo utilizes SA-profile keycaps, known for their tall structure, mirroring the spherical and contoured keycaps of the Commodore 64.
