Apple Lifts Ban on Epic Games Developer Account
Apple has recently reversed its decision to ban Epic Games’ developer account, as indicated in an updated blog post. This move paves the way for an Epic Games Store to once again be accessible on iOS devices in Europe. The decision to lift the ban comes just 48 hours after Apple terminated Epic’s account due to some controversial tweets made by CEO Tim Sweeney.
According to Sweeney, who continued to express his views on Twitter, the ban imposed by Apple was a significant challenge for the Digital Markets Act (DMA) when Epic Games Sweden was prohibited from competing with the App Store. However, with Apple reinstating Epic Games’ developer account, Sweeney heralded this event as the first major victory for the DMA. He concluded his statement with a plea to “#FreeFortnite!”
