Interchain Amplifier: Revolutionary Integration Tool for Leading Blockchain Networks
The collaboration between The Hedera Network, Stacks, Moonriver, and Iron Fish with the Axelar network has reached a significant milestone with the launch of the devnet-phase pilot program for the Interchain Amplifier. Developed by Interop Labs, this innovative service is the first of its kind, offering permissionless connectivity across major blockchain networks, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, EVM chains, IBC, and Hedera (EVM compatible), among 64 other chains.
Interchain Amplifier serves as a developer toolkit built on smart contracts, enhancing the ease and efficiency of new-chain connections. By integrating into the Axelar mainnet, the Amplifier will facilitate routing and translation processes within Axelar’s expanding network of interconnected blockchains automatically.
One of the key features of Interchain Amplifier is its ability to bootstrap new cross-chain pathways quickly, leveraging the security assurances provided by the Axelar network. This capability not only enhances use cases and liquidity depth but also attracts a broader user base, driving further adoption across various blockchain ecosystems.
Interoperability: A Game-Changer for Blockchain Networks
Sergey Gorbunov, CEO of Interop Labs and a key figure in the Axelar protocol’s development, commended the diverse consensus mechanisms driving open, permissionless interoperability. He emphasized the role of Interchain Amplifier in fueling excitement around innovative approaches to blockchain technology, particularly in the realm of Bitcoin L2 solutions.

In a bid to support early adopters, Interop Labs engaged a select group of creative protocols and nodes for the trial program. Each participant brings unique insights and capabilities to the table, showcasing the versatility and potential of the Interchain Amplifier toolkit.
Among the prominent participants, Hedera stands out as a leaderless proof-of-stake network based on the Hashgraph consensus algorithm. Noted for its exceptional performance, security robustness, and compliance features, Hedera facilitates the seamless tokenization of both physical and digital assets on a large scale.
Driving Web3 Adoption Through Interoperability
Elaine Song, VP of Strategy at The HBAR Foundation, emphasized the significance of interoperability for advancing Web3 adoption and enhancing user experiences across various levels. She highlighted the role of Axelar’s multi-chain capabilities in promoting institutional DeFi strategies within the Hedera ecosystem, fostering scalability, cost-efficiency, and global connectivity.
Stacks, a Bitcoin-based layer 2 smart contract platform known for its diverse application support and robust security, praised Axelar’s modular structure for breaking down traditional blockchain barriers. This approach enables interoperability across ecosystems, empowering users and builders to access leading L2 solutions and expand the Bitcoin economy.
Moonriver, operating as a Polkadot parachain on Kusama, mirrors Moonbeam’s functionality, allowing developers to test applications under real-world economic conditions before deployment. Aaron Evans, Head of Operations at Moonbeam Foundation, expressed community enthusiasm for this initiative, emphasizing its alignment with Moonriver’s ecosystem needs.
Iron Fish, with its PoW consensus and zero-knowledge (zk) proof cryptography, offers a chain-agnostic privacy layer for secure transactions and program development. Elena Nadolinski, founder/CEO of Iron Fish, highlighted the integration of Iron Fish with the interchain amplifier, ensuring comprehensive privacy coverage and data encryption for all supported chains.
Unlocking the Potential of Interoperable Web3
As an essential component of the Axelar development stack, the Interchain Amplifier is poised to expand the horizons of Web3 interoperability. The ongoing development efforts aim to seamlessly integrate the Amplifier into the Axelar mainnet through on-chain voting and approval processes, enabling broader blockchain connectivity and enhanced interoperability across diverse networks.
