FDNY Fire Commissioner Faces Backlash During St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The recent incident involving FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanaugh being jeered at a St. Patrick’s Day parade in New York City has sparked further controversy and backlash against the department. This comes after Commissioner Kavanaugh had previously made comments about wanting to ‘hunt down’ the staffers who booed Attorney General Letitia James at a ceremony.
According to a report by FOX News, the incident unfolded during a lively parade near Trump Tower, where Commissioner Kavanaugh was met with jeers and chants of “You suck” from protesters. The outburst against Kavanaugh stemmed from her vow to pursue those who had booed AG James during the previous event.
One protester even held a poster portraying Kavanaugh’s face on the body of a donkey, with a caption that read “Pin the tail on the jacka–“. This gesture further highlighted the tension and dissatisfaction present among certain individuals towards the FDNY leadership.
Despite the confrontation, video footage captured FDNY members later stopping to interact cordially with the protesters, indicating a degree of mutual respect and understanding amidst the heated atmosphere.
