Vice President Harris Issues Warning to Israel on Potential Invasion of Rafah

Vice President Kamala Harris has issued a stern warning to Israel, indicating that there will be “consequences” if the country proceeds with an invasion of the Palestinian city of Rafah. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has signaled his intentions to invade the territory as part of the ongoing conflict with Hamas.

In an interview with ABC News’s Senior Congressional Correspondent Rachel Scott, Harris emphasized that she has thoroughly examined the situation, highlighting that any military action in Rafah would be met with opposition from the United States. She stressed the importance of avoiding a major military operation in the area, emphasizing the lack of viable options for the affected individuals.

When directly questioned about the potential repercussions for Israel, Harris affirmed that there would indeed be consequences for such actions. She maintained a cautious stance, emphasizing that the situation would be evaluated step by step, while not ruling out any possibilities of response from the United States.

Addressing Concerns and Priorities

During the interview, Harris was also asked about Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s call for Netanyahu to step down from power. When pressed for her opinion on Netanyahu’s dismissal of such remarks as “wholly inappropriate,” Harris pivoted to emphasizing the importance of focusing on the ongoing crisis in Gaza. She stressed the need for upholding the rights and security of both Israelis and Palestinians while acknowledging the tragic loss of innocent lives in the region.

Furthermore, recent developments revealed that Harris’s stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff, was involved in fundraising efforts for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency. This organization faced a reduction in funding from the U.S. government due to allegations of ties to Hamas, a designated terrorist group. The situation underscores the complex geopolitical challenges and humanitarian concerns surrounding the conflict.
