Colorado Avalanche Defeat Minnesota Wild in Overtime

Valeri Nichushkin made a triumphant return to the Colorado Avalanche lineup after a two-month absence, scoring a power-play goal just 2:32 into overtime to secure a 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Friday night in Denver.

Nichushkin’s goal came shortly after Kirill Kaprizov drew a penalty for hooking, providing the Avalanche with a timely advantage. Nichushkin’s comeback followed a period of absence during which he received care through the player assistance program, making this game his first appearance since January 10.

Nathan MacKinnon contributed to the victory with two assists, extending his home points streak to 32 games. This achievement ties him with Guy Lafleur (1978-79) for the third-longest run in NHL history.

Artturi Lehkonen got Colorado off to a quick start with a goal just 42 seconds into the game. Although Devon Toews appeared to score for the Avalanche with around 2:30 remaining, the Wild challenged for offside, leading to the goal being disallowed after a review. Brock Faber managed to score the only goal for Minnesota.

The struggling Red Wings, missing injured captain Dylan Larkin, have now lost four games in a row under challenging circumstances.
