Immutable Partners with Marblex to Bring Top Games to Ethereum
Ethereum gaming platform Immutable has announced a partnership with Marblex, the blockchain gaming arm of South Korean gaming giant Netmarble. The collaboration aims to migrate the Marblex ecosystem and its top games to Immutable zkEVM, a layer-2 network on Ethereum powered by Polygon’s zkEVM scaling technology.
Some of the popular games that will make the move include Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, A3: Still Alive, and Meta World: My City, all of which are currently on the layer-1 Klaytn blockchain.
“This partnership is one of the most significant we’ve made to date,” said Immutable co-founder and President Robbie Ferguson. “South Korea is a hotbed of developer activity in Web3 gaming, and Marblex and Netmarble are true pioneers in the space.”
As part of the alliance, an “Ecosystem Boost Program” will be launched, providing up to $20 million in support for developers to bring new titles to Marblex and Immutable.
“Partnering with a proven leader in Web3 gaming was crucial to maximize the reach of these experiences and ensure scalability for both existing and upcoming titles,” noted Marblex CEO Hong Jin Pyo. “That’s why Immutable and their industry-leading zkEVM chain was the right choice for us.”
Earlier in the year, Marblex had announced a partnership with layer-1 blockchain network Saga to support its future games and aid in user acquisition. However, Saga’s network is tailored for launching dedicated chains and supporting games and apps on various blockchain networks.
It remains unclear how the migration to Immutable will impact the plans with Saga. Decrypt reached out to an Immutable representative for clarification but did not receive an immediate response.
