Allegations Against UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones

Based on an incident report from the Albuquerque Police Department, UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been accused of assault and interfering with communications, alleging that he made a death threat towards two drug testing agents.

Details of the Incident

The incident occurred on the late afternoon of March 30 when drug testing agents, Crystal Martinez and Jerome Romero, arrived at Jones’s residence to collect a urine sample as part of the UFC’s anti-doping program. Martinez stated that Jones initially cooperated but turned agitated when he couldn’t urinate.

According to Martinez, Jones became tense and demanded to know if they had money, threatening to sue them while grabbing Martinez’s phone to record a video. He questioned the early arrival of anti-doping officers and made comments hinting at harm befalling individuals who visited his residence.

Feeling fearful, Martinez attempted to terminate the test but proceeded after Jones agreed to try again. She discreetly texted her boss about the threats for her safety. Finding Jones’s behavior suspicious, she reported the incident internally and decided to involve law enforcement.

Legal Ramifications and Responses

Following the incident, Martinez is pursuing charges against Jones, with the police department issuing a summons. In response, Jones posted on his Instagram account, refuting the allegations. He claimed that the encounter ended amicably, sharing security footage of a seemingly friendly exchange with the agents as they departed.

Notably, Jones has a history of legal troubles, including multiple DUI charges and a hit-and-run incident. His statement highlights previous encounters with drug testing officers but accuses Martinez of unprofessionalism and breaching protocol.

Despite requests for comments from UFC and Drug Free Sport International, no official responses have been issued. Jones’s representative referred inquiries to his Instagram statement, emphasizing the friendly resolution of the encounter.
