Pups Soars 81% in 24 Hours

The recent surge in the price of the Bitcoin meme coin Pups has caught the attention of the crypto community, with the token skyrocketing by nearly 81% in the last 24 hours. According to CoinGecko, Pups started the day at $46.92 before climbing above $86.94, fueled by a Twitter storm.

A Vocal Supporter

Notably, viral crypto trader Ansem has been a vocal supporter of Pups, a meme coin that has recently surpassed a $564,000 market cap. Ansem took to Twitter to endorse Pups, emphasizing its significance as the “first meme coin on the world’s oldest blockchain.” This endorsement has garnered significant attention and support from the community.

Debates Within the Community

Despite the claims of Pups being the “first meme coin” on Bitcoin, there has been pushback from individuals pointing to other projects such as MEME and others as the true pioneers in this space. The debate has sparked a lively conversation within the crypto community about the origins and definitions of meme coins.

Ansem, however, remains firm in his belief that Pups holds a unique position in the realm of meme coins. In response to criticisms from skeptics, Ansem dismissively stated that the authenticity of meme coins is subjective and hinges on individual perceptions of humor and novelty.

Team’s Response

Following the backlash and debates surrounding Pups’ claim of being the first meme coin on Bitcoin, the official Pups team released a statement clarifying their position. They distanced themselves from the narrative, asserting, “We are the first, not the first meme coin on Bitcoin.” This statement aimed to address the ongoing discussions and provide clarity on Pups’ categorization within the crypto space.

Transition to Rune Protocol

While Pups currently operates as a BRC-20 token, plans are underway for its transition to a Rune later this month concurrent with the launch of the Runes protocol. The move to Runes, a more decentralized platform compared to BRC-20, aligns with Pups’ commitment to the principles of decentralization and innovation within the crypto ecosystem.

The decision to migrate to Runes comes on the heels of Pups’ remarkable 1,056% surge last week, driven by anticipation surrounding the Bitcoin halving and the introduction of the Runes protocol. This shift reflects Pups’ ongoing evolution and adaptation to emerging trends and technologies in the crypto space.
