Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 mobile platform for enhanced AI, photography, and gaming
Qualcomm has recently introduced the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 mobile platform, aimed at delivering superior generative AI capabilities, photography enhancements, and advanced gaming experiences.
The company, headquartered in San Diego, California, announced that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 will soon be integrated into devices from industry-leading manufacturers such as Honor, iQOO, Realme, Redmi, and Xiaomi, with commercial availability expected in the near future.
Key features of this latest premium-tier platform include robust support for on-device generative AI functions, an always-sensing image signal processor (ISP), hyper-realistic mobile gaming performance, groundbreaking connectivity options, and lossless high-definition audio quality.
Chris Patrick, Qualcomm’s senior vice president and general manager of mobile handsets, emphasized the platform’s ability to elevate user experiences through on-device generative AI capabilities and advanced photography functionalities. He noted that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is engineered to empower users, fostering creativity and productivity in their daily lives.
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 integrates support for a wide range of AI models, including prominent large language models (LLMs) like Baichuan-7B, Llama 2, and Gemini Nano, ensuring seamless compatibility with diverse AI applications.
William Lu, president of Xiaomi, expressed excitement about the collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies to bring the first device powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 to market soon. He highlighted the new platform’s potential to enable personalized premium experiences for customers, enabled by generative AI technology.
