Ron Paul Warns of Potential “Black Swan” Event

In a compelling interview with Tucker Carlson, former Texas Representative Ron Paul urged the public to be prepared for a possible “Black Swan” event, an unexpected occurrence with significant repercussions that cannot be foreseen.

During an in-depth conversation on the Tucker Carlson Show, Paul reflected on the current geopolitical tensions and highlighted his early recognition of conflict potential in regions like Ukraine back in 2014, well before it became widely acknowledged.

Renowned for his steadfast principles and insightful perspectives on economic and foreign policy matters, Ron Paul used the platform to express his concerns about unforeseen and impactful events that could catch the world off guard.

Discussing his views, Paul stated, “I think we’re reaching this point where some sudden thing is going to happen. I believe in that theory of the black swan. Yes, it’s going to pop up, and it’s not going to be controllable.”

He emphasized the significance of education in comprehending and getting ready for these challenges, promoting his homeschooling program designed to instill these principles early on.

Paul emphasized, “But people you ask, what can they do? I think the most important thing is understanding what’s going on, which is education. That’s why I happen to have a homeschooling program. And I try to teach this stuff early because you can’t change it. You can’t just demand, for example, $50 an hour. That’s not how it works… You have to know what actions to take. One is to protect your money. Another is to protect your wealth.”

Expanding on the need to grasp the underlying causes influencing societal and economic shifts, the former Congressman stressed the risks involved and advocated for a decentralized governance approach with more independent state actions.

Catherine Herridge Echoes Concerns on “Black Swan” Event

Correspondingly, Catherine Herridge shared analogous sentiments on CBS last year. During a year-end CBS News roundtable among correspondents, Herridge, the network’s senior investigative correspondent, conveyed a somber forecast for 2024, alluding to a potential ‘Black Swan event’ – a national security crisis of unpredictable, high impact.

A “black swan event” signifies an unforeseen incident with severe repercussions. This term gained traction through Nassim Nicholas Taleb’s 2007 book “The Black Swan”.

Moderating the discussion, Margaret Brennan questioned Herridge about her prediction. Herridge, a seasoned reporter specializing in national security and intelligence matters, expressed apprehensions regarding the future, particularly under the Biden administration.

Highlighting her concerns, Herridge remarked, “Well, mine’s a little dark. I just feel a lot of concern that 2024 may be the year of a black swan event. This is a national security event with high impact that’s very hard to predict.”

She enumerated various factors contributing to her prediction, including enduring heightened threat levels, conflicts in Israel and Ukraine, as well as internal divisions within the United States that may offer opportunities to adversaries like North Korea, China, and Iran.

Brennan acknowledged the gravity of Herridge’s warning, noting the widespread unease such forecasts can evoke. “A lot of people are up at night with that concern, Catherine. At least in this town,” Brennan affirmed.
