Xai and The MIX Collaboration for Web3 Gaming
Xai, a gaming-centric Ethereum network utilizing Arbitrum scaling technology, is set to introduce a plethora of new games by the end of the year through a partnership with indie gaming curator, The MIX.
New Games on Xai Network
The Media Indie Exchange (The MIX) has announced plans to launch over 100 games on the layer-3 Xai network before 2024 concludes, with the first batch expected to go live within the next 60 days. While specific titles have not been revealed yet, they will be disclosed individually as they are confirmed.
Justin Woodward, owner, and co-founder of The MIX, expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating, “By the end of the year, we anticipate deploying at least dozens, if not over 100, games to Xai through this partnership.”
Transition to Web3
Having established itself over the past 12 years as a platform that bridges indie game developers, publishers, and media outlets, The MIX is now venturing into the Web3 space. Leveraging its extensive network and experience in curating gaming events, The MIX aims to onboard creators to the Xai network.
While many of the upcoming games are expected to be adapted “Web2” titles using Xai’s software development kit, Woodward also mentioned a smaller group of games being developed entirely from scratch for Web3.
Web3 Advantages
Xai’s SDK offers a seamless transition for Web2 games to access Web3 benefits without disrupting the user experience. Woodward highlighted the flexibility Xai provides game developers, comparing it to Valve’s approach with in-game item trading on the Steam platform.
He acknowledged the initial skepticism surrounding crypto games in the Web2 ecosystem but noted the positive response from developers due to the transparent integration of Web3 elements.
Community Building and Opportunities
Woodward emphasized the role of Web3 in fostering community engagement, citing Xai’s strong social presence and dedicated user base as a catalyst for indie developers to connect with a wider audience. He emphasized that blockchain technology serves as a tool rather than a standalone solution for game development.
The MIX is currently hosting an event at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco in collaboration with gaming content studio Kinda Funny, reflecting its commitment to promoting innovative gaming experiences in the Web3 landscape.
