Southwest Airlines Considers Seating Policy Overhaul
Southwest Airlines, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, is contemplating a shift in its well-known seating policy, as revealed by Chief Executive Officer Bob Jordan in a recent interview. Jordan disclosed that the company is exploring new initiatives related to the arrangement of seats and the boarding process on their aircraft.
Current Seating Policy
Presently, Southwest Airlines follows an open-seating approach, wherein passengers do not have designated seats allocated prior to boarding. The discussions regarding a potential new seating policy have emerged following Southwest’s recent announcement of a loss during the first quarter of 2024, prompting the airline to withdraw from certain airports and impose restrictions on hiring.
