The perpetrator in question is an illegal immigrant who brutally took the life of Laken Riley. Johnson emphasized that rather than apologizing to the grieving family of the victim, President Biden chose to extend his regrets to the accused killer, a decision that Johnson labeled as shameful and disgraceful.

House Speaker Mike Johnson condemned President Biden, labeling him as an “embarrassment” for what appears to be an apology aimed at Laken Riley’s alleged murderer rather than expressing condolences to the family of the deceased student. Biden’s apparent backtracking stemmed from a moment during his State of the Union address that was not part of the prepared script. In this impromptu instance, he referred to Riley’s killer as an “illegal.” However, during an interview with MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart, Biden expressed regret for his choice of language, suggesting that he should have used the term “undocumented” to describe Jose Ibarra, a Venezuelan national accused of the murder. This sequence of events followed a prompt from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who urged Biden to acknowledge Riley’s tragic fate. Yet, even in this effort, Biden erroneously referred to the victim as “Lincoln Riley.”
According to ICE, Jose Ibarra initially entered the United States illegally through El Paso, Texas, in 2022.
Contrast Between Biden’s Response and President Trump’s Actions
While Joe Biden and his Democratic supporters appeared preoccupied with the terminology used to characterize Riley’s alleged killer, little attention was paid to the victim and her bereaved family. President Trump, on the other hand, took the initiative to meet with and offer solace to Laken Riley’s loved ones during a rally in Rome, GA. Trump also criticized Biden for what he deemed as a weak and inappropriate apology for describing Ibarra as “illegal.”
President Trump’s direct approach contrasted starkly with Biden’s handling of the situation, as evidenced in an incident where Biden mistakenly confused Laken Riley with USC football coach Lincoln Riley.
President Trump’s Response and Immigration Statistics
President Trump did not hold back in condemning Biden and the political left for their perceived leniency towards individuals residing in the country illegally. He underscored that Laken Riley’s assailant would not have been present in the United States if Trump were still in office.
Statistics indicate that under President Biden’s administration, an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants have entered the country. This staggering figure equates to the populations of 41 individual states.
