Toronto showcased its formidable prowess by securing its 11th consecutive victory in the PWHL with a hard-fought 2-1 triumph against Boston on Wednesday.
The triumph propelled Toronto (10-3-0-5) to the pinnacle of the PWHL standings, boasting a three-point advantage over Minnesota in the fiercely contested six-team women’s professional hockey league.

Renata Fast exhibited her scoring prowess by finding the back of the net, while teammate Natalie Spooner delivered the decisive game-winning goal during an intense second period. Contributing to the victory, Sarah Nurse showcased exquisite playmaking ability with two crucial assists.
In a commendable display of skill and composure, goalie Eric Howe demonstrated her shot-stopping abilities by making an impressive 28 saves, earning her first victory of the season after a prolonged absence from the starting lineup since January.
Speaking about the team’s performance, Spooner emphasized the collective effort, stating, “The first two periods were not our best, but we knew we had to elevate our game in the final period. It showcased our team’s character and resilience.”

Despite facing some challenges, including penalties that led to Boston taking the lead in the first period, Toronto displayed resilience and determination. Boston’s early advantage was nullified when Fast scored a crucial goal early in the third period.
Spooner, the league’s leading goal-scorer, further solidified Toronto’s position by netting her 14th goal of the season during a power play opportunity, emphasizing her significant impact on the team’s success. Her 18 points now tie her with New York’s Alex Carpenter for the most in the league.
