Trevor Bauer Accusers Faces Felony Charges
Recently, a woman who accused former major league pitcher Trevor Bauer of sexual assault has been indicted by a grand jury in Arizona on felony charges of fraudulent schemes and theft by extortion. The woman in question, Darcy Adanna Esemonu, allegedly obtained benefits from Bauer through fraudulent means, as outlined in the indictment filed in the Superior Court of Arizona in Maricopa County.
Indictment Details
According to the indictment, Esemonu engaged in fraudulent activities with the intent to obtain property or services from Bauer by using deceptive pretenses, representations, promises, or material omissions. Moreover, she allegedly sought to obtain property or services from Bauer by threatening to expose a secret or an asserted fact involving another individual through social media or any other means.
It is important to note that the individual mentioned in the indictment is not associated with Bauer, as clarified by his attorney.
Lawsuit Against Bauer
Esemonu had filed a lawsuit against Bauer in 2023, alleging sexual assault and an “unplanned pregnancy” resulting from the incident. In response, Bauer’s legal team described the encounter as consensual and filed a countersuit accusing Esemonu of fraud, harassment, and extortion.
In a statement provided by Bauer’s lawyers, he refuted Esemonu’s claims and accused her of demanding $3.6 million from him under false pretenses.
Legal Proceedings
The legal proceedings intensified when Esemonu reported the alleged assault to the Scottsdale Police Department in December 2022, which eventually led to a criminal complaint filed against her by one of Bauer’s attorneys for theft by extortion.
Following the developments, the Los Angeles Dodgers severed ties with Bauer in January 2023 after he faced suspension from MLB due to similar allegations of sexual assault by multiple women.
Despite the ongoing legal battles and controversies, Bauer has consistently denied the allegations brought against him by Esemonu and other accusers.
