Ex-President Donald Trump Demands $1 Billion to Undo Rival’s Environmental Policies

In the realm of politics, a universal truth resonates — everything carries a price tag. Recent reports indicate that former President Donald Trump has set a staggering $1 billion price for retracting his adversary’s pro-electric vehicle and environmental initiatives.

The Washington Post Discloses Trump’s Strategy

A publication by The Washington Post reveals that the Republican candidate for the U.S. presidency convened with prominent oil industry figures at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida. A notable attendee lamented the weight of approximately $400 million invested in lobbying efforts against the persistent regulatory framework established by the Biden Administration.

Allegedly, during the meeting, Trump presented what he termed a “deal.” The proposition entailed raising a billion-dollar war chest for his campaign in exchange for an immediate reversal of numerous environmental directives and policies introduced by President Joe Biden. Moreover, Trump pledged to obstruct the implementation of new regulations. A specific policy critique highlighted was the Department of Energy’s suspension of liquefied natural gas (LNG) export permits—deemed contentious by fossil fuel factions and commended by environmental advocates.

Key Industry Reactions to Environmental Restrictions

The temporary halt on LNG export approvals, encompassing nations without free-trade agreements with the U.S., is particularly pertinent for oil executives. The U.S. secured its status as the primary LNG exporter in the earlier stages of 2023, averaging 11.6 billion cubic feet per day.

Additionally, Trump articulated plans to broaden lease auctions for off-shore oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, persist in disputing the benefits of wind energy, and revoke limitations on oil extraction in the Alaskan Arctic. Furthermore, he vowed to eliminate the Environmental Protection Agency’s recently finalized regulations on tailpipe emissions—lauded by automakers and environmental advocates alike. The mandate emphasizes escalating electric vehicle (EV) sales as a means to meet emission standards, a measure misrepresented by pro-oil advocates and Trump as a coercive imposition.

In condemnation of Biden’s energy stance, Karoline Leavitt, spokesperson for Trump’s 2024 electoral campaign, asserted, “Joe Biden is controlled by environmental extremists who are trying to implement the most radical energy agenda in history and force Americans to purchase electric vehicles they can’t afford.”

Noteworthy figures such as Venture Global CEO Mike Sabel, Cheniere Energy CEO Jack Fusco, alongside representatives from Chevron, Continental Resources, Exxon Mobil, and Occidental Petroleum, attended the mentioned meeting, as per The Post’s guest list disclosure.
