Missing Boston Bruins Captain Brad Marchand for Game 4

The Boston Bruins will be without their captain, Brad Marchand, for Game 4 against the Florida Panthers due to an upper-body injury sustained after a hit from Sam Bennett.

The incident took place in the first period of Game 3, with Bennett colliding with Marchand after passing the puck. Marchand, visibly in pain, managed to stay on the bench until the end of the second period but did not return for the third period.

Head coach Jim Montgomery expressed his concern over the hit, citing a history of similar incidents involving Bennett. Despite claims that it was unintentional, the Bruins have their own perspective on the matter. Bennett himself has a track record of suspensions, including one in the previous playoffs for a hit on Blake Coleman and another for a head hit on Cedric Paquette during the regular season.

Panthers vs. Bruins: Stanley Cup Playoffs Round 2

As the Florida Panthers face off against the Boston Bruins in Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, stay updated with the latest news and analysis on the matchup.

Last post-season, Bennett was fined for a cross-check on Michael Bunting during the Panthers’ series against the Toronto Maple Leafs. When asked about Bennett’s interaction with Marchand, Panthers head coach Paul Maurice denied any intentional wrongdoing, labeling it as merely a collision.

With the Panthers leading the series after a Game 3 victory, the Bruins will be looking to even the score in Game 4. The game can be viewed on Sportsnet or Sportsnet+ with coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET / 3:30 p.m. PT.
