Dallas Police Investigate Alleged 2017 Sexual Assault Involving Cowboys QB Dak Prescott

Dallas police confirmed on Thursday that they are investigating an alleged 2017 sexual assault involving Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. The investigation stems from a complaint filed by a woman who claims Prescott assaulted her in the back of an SUV seven years ago.

Prescott responded to the allegations by filing a suit in Collin County, asserting that he is being extorted for $100 million by the woman and her attorneys. In response, police in Prosper, Texas, where Prescott resides, are now investigating his extortion claim as well.

Prescott’s attorney, Levi McCathern, raised concerns about the timing of the woman’s report, which came seven years after the alleged assault and following the initiation of the extortion investigation. McCathern emphasized that the allegations and extortion attempt will not diminish the pursuit of justice in the case.

In his lawsuit, Prescott is seeking monetary relief exceeding $1 million and has expressed his commitment to donating any received compensation to organizations supporting survivors of sexual assault and abuse, such as the Joyful Heart Foundation.

The 11-page lawsuit lists numerous charges against the woman and her legal team, including defamation, slander, business disparagement, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Prescott’s legal team asserts his innocence, stating that he has never engaged in nonconsensual sexual conduct.

Attorneys representing the woman claimed that Prescott had acknowledged being with her on the night of the alleged assault in 2017, standing by the veracity of the accusations. They emphasized the importance of holding Prescott accountable for his behavior and refuted claims of victim blaming.

Despite the ongoing legal issues, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones indicated that the allegations against Prescott would not affect contract negotiations with the quarterback, citing the need to let the legal process unfold.
