Tesla CEO Elon Musk Boasts About Company’s AI Advancements

Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently showcased the company’s significant progress in AI technology, emphasizing their in-house developments in both hardware and chip design. During a presentation and Q&A session following a shareholder meeting, Musk proudly stated that Tesla’s custom-designed AI software and inference chip are unparalleled in the industry.

According to Musk, “There’s actually not a chip from Nvidia—or from any company—that we would prefer to put in our car that is better than what we have in the car. We started from scratch in chip design, just as we started from scratch in AI software, and have the best real-world AI software and the best AI inference chip in the world— from nothing.”

At the shareholder meeting, Tesla stockholders also voted to re-approve Musk’s controversial $56 billion pay package and to relocate the company’s headquarters from Delaware to Texas, as reported by Bloomberg.

Tesla’s Focus on AI and Robotics

Musk further discussed Tesla’s future plans, which heavily involve AI integration in their vehicles, automotive software, and robotics. The company’s primary objective is the development of fully self-driving (FSD) cars, with Musk asserting that Tesla’s technology surpasses that of any competitor.

“Tesla also writes a lot of software internally. The Tesla operating system internally is head and shoulders above what any other company has, probably better than any Fortune 500 company,” Musk stated. He highlighted the company’s ability to make decisions based on video inputs, a capability he believes is unmatched by competitors.

Beyond automotive technology, Musk positioned Tesla as a leader in real-world AI, even claiming superiority over tech giants like Google and Meta. Despite his involvement in founding OpenAI, Musk criticized the company’s recent deals, emphasizing his commitment to Tesla’s internal AI developments.

Additionally, Musk praised Tesla’s advancements in chip design, mentioning the development of the AI inference chips implemented in their vehicles. He also discussed the deployment of Optimus humanoid robots in Tesla’s facilities, indicating plans to expand their robotic workforce.

While discussing the future of humanoid robotics, Musk expressed optimism about the market potential, estimating a substantial market cap for Tesla’s Optimus robots. This enthusiasm for AI and robotics reflects Tesla’s ongoing dedication to innovation under Musk’s leadership.
