HEO on X
Welcome to the Daily Telescope. In a world filled with darkness and lacking in light, where pseudoscience often prevails over true science, we at Ars Technica choose to take a different path. Drawing inspiration from the vast universe teeming with stars and mysteries, we bring you a unique perspective.
Good morning on this May 16th, as we present an extraordinary image captured by the on-demand satellite imagery company HEO. This particular image does not depict our planet Earth, but rather the iconic International Space Station drifting through the cosmic expanse.
Headquartered in Australia, HEO is a company that specializes in deploying its sensors as hosted payloads on satellites orbiting Earth. However, their primary focus is not centered on our planet; instead, HEO concentrates on monitoring and analyzing other spacecraft in low-Earth orbit to assess their condition and track any unusual behavior.
Despite enduring a quarter of a century in space, the International Space Station continues to operate flawlessly. Collaborating with international partners, NASA is diligently working towards extending the station’s mission until 2030. Beyond that, NASA envisions retiring the station and transitioning to commercially managed space stations for future endeavors.
