Boxing Match Between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson Rescheduled
The highly anticipated boxing match between YouTuber-turned-prizefighter Jake Paul and former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has a new date. Originally scheduled for July 20, the fight was postponed due to Tyson’s medical issues but has now been rescheduled for November 15 at AT&T Stadium.
The event will also feature the rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano for Taylor’s undisputed super lightweight championship, serving as the co-main event.
Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, expressed gratitude for the collaboration that allowed the rescheduling. “Paul vs. Tyson is the most cross-generational sporting event in history, and we are committed to providing fans worldwide with this unforgettable night of boxing, live globally on Netflix,” Bidarian stated.
New Date and Unique Friday Fight
The decision to hold the fight on a Friday instead of the traditional Saturday raised eyebrows. This choice allows the stadium to prepare for the Dallas Cowboys game on Monday, November 18.
The original July date was strategically chosen to avoid competition with the NFL season and other major sports events. However, Tyson’s health issues forced the postponement after doctors advised him to limit training until his condition improved.
Despite the delay, Tyson remains confident. “The result will be the same no matter when we fight. Jake Paul is getting knocked out,” Tyson affirmed.
Record-Breaking Age Gap
When Tyson celebrates his 58th birthday on June 30, he will face a 31-year age gap with Paul, marking the biggest difference in professional boxing history. It will also be over 19 years since Tyson’s last professional fight, while Paul, 27, aims to continue his winning streak.
Both Serrano and Taylor, the female fighters in the co-main event, have faced challenges due to long layoffs. Serrano’s last fight was in October, while Taylor rebounded from her first career loss in November to become the undisputed super lightweight champion.
Professional Debut and Rescheduling
Details about MMA fighter Darren Till’s professional boxing debut against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and the lightweight prospects’ bout remain unclear. However, the event will be streamed live on Netflix and the results will impact the fighters’ professional records.
Those holding tickets for the original date can use them for the rescheduled event on November 15. Refunds are available for those unable to attend until July 8.
