Kevin De Bruyne Considering Move to Saudi Pro League

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has expressed openness to a potential move to the Saudi Pro League (SPL) due to the significant financial opportunities available in the Gulf nation.

With just one year remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, De Bruyne has been the subject of transfer speculation linking him to Saudi Arabia. Sources close to the player revealed that De Bruyne’s representatives recently visited ten Saudi clubs within a three-day period in May.

In an interview with Belgian outlet HLN, De Bruyne acknowledged the allure of the financial rewards awaiting him in Saudi Arabia, saying, “At my age, you have to be open to everything. You’re talking about incredible amounts of money at what could be the end of my career. Sometimes you have to consider that. If I were to play there for two years, I could earn an incredible sum of money.”

The 32-year-old midfielder, who endured a challenging season with City due to a hamstring injury that sidelined him for five months, is contemplating his future. De Bruyne, a six-time Premier League champion, is also rumored to be a target for Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs.

“These discussions are becoming more frequent within my family,” De Bruyne shared. “With one year left on my contract, I have to contemplate the possibilities. My eldest son, who has only known life in England, is now eight years old and often asks how long I will continue playing for City. When the time comes, we will handle it accordingly.”
