Mike Malott to Return to Octagon in July
Canadian fighter Mike Malott is set to make his comeback in the UFC in July. Malott will face off against Gilbert Urbina at UFC Fight Night scheduled for July 13.
The last time Malott stepped into the octagon was during UFC 297 in Toronto on January 20, where he faced Neil Magny. Despite a strong performance in the first two rounds, Malott’s attempt to secure a guillotine choke allowed Magny to gain top position and deliver decisive punches, leading to the referee stopping the fight.
Disappointed with the outcome, the 32-year-old athlete from Burlington, Ontario, expressed his sentiments on social media, stating, “I tried my best. I’m really sorry. I hope I’m going to make you guys proud. I’m a little disappointed, but I felt really good about this camp. No excuses, man, I felt really good.”
Malott, who holds a spotless 3-0 record from his time on the Contender Series, emphasized his gratitude for the support from fans, friends, family, team, sponsors, and everyone who has backed him. He vowed to make a strong return and continue to represent his country with pride.
