New Jersey AG Investigates Trump’s Golf Club Liquor Licenses
The New Jersey Attorney General’s office is currently investigating whether former President Donald Trump is still eligible to hold liquor licenses at his three golf clubs in the state. This inquiry follows Trump’s recent felony conviction in New York.
According to officials, the properties under review are located in Bedminster, Pine Hill, and Colts Neck. Attorney General Matthew Platkin and the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control are leading the investigation.
A spokesperson for the agency stated, “ABC is reviewing the impact of President Trump’s conviction on the above referenced licenses, and declines further comment at this time.”
While the Trump campaign claims that the ex-president does not own the liquor licenses, New Jersey law stipulates that a license can be revoked if the individual holding it is convicted of crimes involving moral turpitude. This raises the question of whether the licenses being in someone else’s name protects them if Trump owns the properties.
The repercussions of felony convictions are far-reaching, even for a former president. Trump has already been required to surrender his firearms, as he unlawfully possessed one in Florida for several weeks post-conviction.
It is evident that being a convicted felon is significantly impacting Donald Trump’s life in various ways.
