Crypto Games on Telegram Thrive After Notcoin’s Success
Crypto-fueled games on messaging app Telegram are experiencing a surge in popularity, largely driven by the significant demand generated by Notcoin’s massive token launch earlier this year. As Notcoin prepares to conclude its token claim for players, the future of the game is starting to take shape.
The deadline for players to claim their Notcoin tokens is set for Sunday, June 16, marking one month since the NOT token was introduced on The Open Network. The launch of NOT quickly became the most successful gaming token debut of 2024, surpassing a $1 billion market cap as millions of players earned rewards for their participation.
Since the launch, Notcoin has continued to grow, with a price surge at the beginning of June propelling the token’s market cap above $2 billion, securing its spot among the top 60 cryptocurrencies. Despite recent market volatility, Notcoin has seen a 57% increase in value over the past two weeks, according to data from CoinGecko.
Players who engaged in the early “mining phase” of Notcoin can still claim their tokens through the Telegram mini app. They have the option to send the tokens to an exchange, withdraw them to a self-custody wallet, or stake them within Notcoin to potentially earn future rewards and perks.
Claiming and Staking Notcoin Tokens
Developer Open Builders has announced that part of the unclaimed tokens will fund future development, while the remaining tokens will be burned. Players can verify their token claims within the Notcoin mini app by looking for an “OK” hand symbol emoji.

Notcoin currently boasts nearly 2.5 million on-chain holders and millions more individuals who hold the token through exchanges. Players who staked their tokens will receive a level increase the following month, while new users will have the opportunity to achieve higher levels next week. These higher levels grant access to more earning opportunities and rewards as the game evolves.
Future Development and Expansion
Although Notcoin’s core gameplay has been temporarily disabled since April 1 in preparation for the airdrop, the team plans to reinstate it. Additionally, they aim to introduce new games as part of their vision to create a Netflix-like platform for social games. Notcoin has also provided passive crypto earning opportunities through collaborations with other projects.
Following Notcoin’s success, other Telegram-based games have announced similar token launches. Hamster Kombat, a game that simulates the life of a crypto exchange CEO, has garnered significant attention and plans to launch its TON token in July. The game recently reported 150 million Telegram players and a substantial increase in social media following.
Other Telegram mini app games, such as Yescoin and TapSwap, have also revealed plans to launch tokens on The Open Network. The Open Network, along with its native Toncoin (TON), has benefitted from the growing interest, with TON reaching a new all-time high price of $8.25 and securing a position in the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap.
