Nyan Heroes to Launch NYAN Token on Solana Blockchain
Nyan Heroes, a cat-themed shooter inspired by games like Overwatch and Titanfall, has announced that it will be launching its NYAN token on the Solana blockchain next week. The game has been in pre-alpha testing since March and has already gained significant traction, breaking into the top 30 titles on the Epic Games Store with over 200,000 downloads.
NYAN Token Launch on Bybit Exchange
The official launch of the NYAN token is scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, on the centralized exchange Bybit. Along with this token launch, there are hints that more information about the highly anticipated NYAN airdrop will be revealed in the near future.
Players who participated in the game’s play-to-airdrop campaigns will receive NYAN tokens as part of the airdrop. By earning MEOW and CATNIP points through gameplay and social media engagement, players will qualify for a portion of the NYAN allocation once the token is live. Instructions on how to claim the airdrop are expected to be released alongside the token launch next week.
9 Lives Interactive and Funding
Nyan Heroes is developed by the Singapore-based game studio 9 Lives Interactive, which secured $3 million in funding to support the game’s development and launch. The successful pre-alpha debut on the Epic Games Store attracted over 100,000 players in the first week and a half of release.
Despite the integration of blockchain technology through the NYAN token, the game currently does not feature any NFT components. The developers are prioritizing gameplay mechanics before exploring NFT integration. Players can enjoy the game without needing to interact with cryptocurrency or own a digital wallet, and this approach will remain unchanged even after the NYAN token launch.
Max Fu, the Creative Director and CEO of 9 Lives Interactive, mentioned to Decrypt that an in-game premium currency will be available for purchasing “Web2” items. Additionally, there will be special “awakened” items in the game that are tokenized and tradable. However, participating in the crypto aspect of the game is entirely optional.
