Poor Things

After enduring the pandemic and a pair of industry-stopping strikes, Hollywood seemed particularly enthusiastic about celebrating itself at this year’s Oscars. While genre movies were not heavily present on the ballot, the success of last year’s “Everything Everywhere All at Once” sweep was still validating. Among the winners at the Oscars, “Poor Things” was at the forefront of the genre, with Emma Stone securing a Best Lead Actress win for her portrayal of Bella Baxter. “Oppenheimer” also made a mark by claiming victories in Best Lead Actor, Best Director, and Best Picture categories. However, “Barbie,” amidst various discussions regarding perceived snubs, managed to secure only one win for original song out of its nominations. Here are the winners and nominees from the 2024 Academy Awards.
