Space Explorers: THE INFINITE Returns to Houston with a Lunar Twist
Following the success of virtually transporting thousands of individuals to the International Space Station, Felix & Paul Studios has taken their immersive experience to new heights by inviting participants to explore the moon. “Space Explorers: THE INFINITE,” which initially premiered in Houston three years ago, is back in Space City for a limited second run. This interactive and immersive experience allows the public to delve into a virtual, life-size replica of the ISS, offering them a taste of astronaut life.
A Remarkable Journey
“THE INFINITE” is a spin-off of “Space Explorers: The ISS Experience,” an Emmy-award winning series created by Felix & Paul Studios in collaboration with TIME Studios. The experience combines over 200 hours of 3D 360 cinematic virtual reality footage shot onboard the space station over nearly three years. Visitors can explore a virtual model of the ISS, encouraging them to navigate through the layout of the orbital outpost while engaging with 360-degree vignettes within its modules.
Félix Lajeunesse, co-founder and chief creative officer of Felix & Paul Studios, highlighted the dynamic nature of the experience, stating, “Every visit offers a new experience, with 60 virtual reality scenes available to activate both inside and outside the ISS. Each visit allows guests to witness around 12 scenes, ensuring that subsequent visits provide fresh perspectives and novel encounters.”
Enhanced Lunar Adventure
Previously, “THE INFINITE” concluded with a spacewalk outside the ISS, showcasing astronauts in action. The experience has now expanded to include a multi-room art installation by visual and sound artist Ryoji Ikeda. However, the most notable addition is a retrospective of NASA’s Artemis 1 mission to the moon, culminating in the launch of the Space Launch System (SLS) heavy-lift rocket. This momentous occasion marked a significant milestone in NASA’s efforts to return humans to the lunar surface.
Felix & Paul Studios captured the Artemis 1 launch and live-streamed the event in 360 degrees, offering audiences an unprecedented view. This footage now serves as the grand finale of “THE INFINITE,” providing participants with a unique and thrilling conclusion to their journey.
A Homecoming Experience
Having premiered in Montreal and Houston before traveling to various cities, “THE INFINITE” has returned to Houston, where it initially took shape. Lajeunesse emphasized the deep connections the show has with the city, given the extensive collaborations with Johnson Space Center personnel and astronauts based in Houston.
“Bringing the experience back to Houston is like coming home,” Lajeunesse remarked. The immersive journey awaits visitors at Silver Street Studios at Sawyer Yards in Houston, running from Thursday to Sunday. Ticket prices start at $35 for adults, with discounts available for children, seniors, students, and military members. Group and family rates are also offered.
