Thiago Motta Named New Juventus Manager

Juventus has officially appointed Thiago Motta as their new manager, replacing Massimiliano Allegri. The Italian giants made the announcement, expressing their excitement about the new hire. Motta has signed a contract with the club until June 30, 2027.

Allegri’s departure came after his controversial behavior during the Coppa Italia final win over Atalanta. Meanwhile, Bologna had already confirmed that Motta would not be extending his contract with them before the Serie A season ended.

In a statement released by Juventus, Motta expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, stating, “I am really happy to begin a new chapter at the helm of a great club like Juventus. I thank the owners and the management, who can be sure of my ambition to keep the Juventus flag flying high and to please the fans.”

At 41 years old, Motta has already made a name for himself in Italian football. During his time at Bologna, he helped secure Champions League football for the club for the first time since 1964. Prior to his success at Bologna, Motta guided Spezia to Serie A survival in the 2021-22 season.

Before transitioning to coaching, Motta had a successful playing career with top clubs like Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus’ rivals Inter Milan. He notably won a historic treble with Inter Milan under José Mourinho’s management in 2009-10.

Motta’s Bologna faced Juventus in their penultimate game of the Serie A season, a match that saw Bologna squander a three-goal lead to the Bianconeri in the final 15 minutes. Paolo Montero temporarily took charge of Juventus following Allegri’s dismissal.

Allegri’s contract with Juventus was officially terminated earlier in June through a mutual agreement.
