Crypto and NFT Gaming Space Update

The realm of crypto and NFT gaming is abuzz with activity, as prominent games are making their debuts, token airdrops are on the rise, and a myriad of other developments are constantly unfolding. Staying informed amid this flurry of activity can be quite overwhelming.

Fortunately, Decrypt’s GG team is diligently monitoring all these happenings. For a concise overview of the most recent advancements in crypto video games, look no further than This Week in Crypto Games. Our weekly roundup encapsulates the major headlines from the past week, along with some noteworthy details you might have overlooked. Additionally, we present a selection of our exclusive stories that were published during the week.

Key Updates

  • Notcoin Launch Confirmation: Notcoin has officially disclosed the confirmed date for its NOT token launch, putting an end to the previous speculation. The NOT token, minted on The Open Network (TON), is set to be listed on May 16. Both Binance and OKX will kick off staking reward campaigns on May 13. The viral Telegram-based game, Notcoin, paused its gameplay in April in anticipation of the token launch, which faced delays. Originally slated for April 20 to coincide with the Bitcoin halving, the launch was postponed to ensure a seamless rollout.
  • Fantasy Top Debut: A novel crypto social media game, Fantasy Top, has entered the scene. Drawing inspiration from the core principles of fantasy football, the game features 120 crypto influencers, traders, and content creators. These individuals are transformed into NFT cards, known as heroes, and they receive a share of their cards’ trading volume, as well as a portion of the total pack sale revenue. Last week, Twitter influencers were collectively awarded $1.25 million worth of ETH.
  • Rug.fun Game Launch: An intriguing game was introduced last week that gamifies the minting of Ethereum meme coins. Rug.fun, a two-phase 24-hour game, challenges players to create and invest in meme coins with the highest and lowest liquidity. Any position other than the extreme ends at the timer’s expiration results in being “rugged.” Developed by the team behind Mint.fun, an NFT discovery platform recently acquired by Zora, Context team distributed the first token created using the protocol to victims of previous rug pulls.
