Tickets availability and pricing for Lionel Messi’s game in Montreal
Tickets for the highly anticipated match between Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami CF and CF Montreal at Stade Saputo in Montreal are still available. The game, scheduled for Saturday, marks Messi’s first professional trip to Canada.
Availability and Pricing
As of late Friday afternoon, several sections of the 19,619-capacity venue had more than 40 seats available, with one section having more than 75. The cheapest ticket available is priced at $325 for a single seat, while other tickets are priced at $495 and higher, going up to $729.
Despite the availability of tickets, there is no guarantee that Messi will play. However, the 36-year-old Argentine superstar is reportedly healthy and expected to feature in the match.
Comments from CF Montreal and Supporters
Jonah Presser, the director of communications for CF Montreal supporters’ group 1642MTL, expressed his thoughts on the ticket availability. Presser mentioned that the remaining tickets indicate that the club may have overestimated the market demand at the current ticket prices.
On the other hand, CF Montreal president Gabriel Gervais remains optimistic about a sellout for the Saturday match. Gervais stated that traditionally, a large percentage of tickets are sold within 48 hours before the match, expressing confidence in seeing a full house for the event.
Ticket Pricing Controversy
Back in February, two CF Montreal supporters’ groups raised concerns about the rise in ticket prices for the Inter Miami match. The groups disapproved of the designated supporters’ section tickets priced at $449 plus taxes, a significant departure from the usual pricing range of $30 to $35.
Presser reiterated that the high ticket prices could deter regular fans from attending, emphasizing that sudden increases in ticket costs could pose financial challenges for many individuals.
Season Tickets and Ticket Packages
CF Montreal had previously announced the sale of 15,000 season tickets, starting at $444, marking a sold-out milestone since joining MLS in 2012. Subsequently, a six-game bundle that included the Inter Miami match, starting at $750, was released and sold out as well, indicating high demand for the game.
Other Matches and Ticket Prices
For the Inter Miami matches against other Canadian teams, tickets are priced at $329 for the Vancouver Whitecaps game on May 25, including taxes and fees. Toronto FC, on the other hand, had only resale tickets available for the October 5 match against Miami at BMO Field, starting at $333.
