Toronto Blue Jays Activate Alek Manoah
The Toronto Blue Jays have officially activated Alek Manaoh before his start Sunday against the Washington Nationals. This move comes after Manaoh had been rehabbing in the minor leagues to start the 2024 season following a shoulder injury sustained in spring training. His 30-day rehab window was set to close on Monday. To make room for the 26-year-old right-hander, the team has optioned left-handed reliever Brendon Little to triple-A Buffalo.
Alek Manoah’s Impressive Performance
After making an impact in his last start for triple-A Buffalo, where he struck out 12 batters and only gave up one run in six innings against Indianapolis, Alek Manoah has showcased his capabilities. This remarkable performance marked a significant turnaround for Manoah, especially considering his 8.69 ERA in five minor-league starts this season. Blue Jays manager, John Schneider, expressed his confidence in Manoah’s abilities and the positive impact he is expected to have on the team.
“Alek, last outing, kind of everything that we had hoped for and we know that he’s going to help us,” Schneider stated. “His stuff is in a great spot. His stuff — velocity, slider, everything — is probably in the best spot it’s been in a year-and-a-half or so. I think getting that in the zone and getting deep into games is what we were kind of looking for and he definitely did that, checked that box, so (I’m) excited to see him tomorrow.”
Brendon Little’s Performance and Roster Move
On the other hand, Brendon Little, who appeared in three games with the Blue Jays after starting the year with the Buffalo Bisons, struggled during his time with the team. Little posted a 10.80 ERA with four strikeouts in 3.1 innings and had a challenging outing in Saturday’s game against the Washington Nationals, allowing one run in an inning of work. Consequently, the decision was made to option Little to triple-A Buffalo to create space for Alek Manoah in the active roster.
As Alek Manoah prepares to take the mound against the Washington Nationals in the upcoming game, fans can look forward to an exciting matchup. The Toronto Blue Jays will be aiming for a series win over the Nationals, and the game will be broadcasted on Sportsnet ONE and Sportsnet+ with coverage starting at 1 p.m. ET and 10 a.m. PT.
