World Makers Revamps Deceit 2 as a Free-to-Play Game
World Makers made an announcement today regarding the relaunch of their social deduction and survival title, Deceit 2, on PC as a free-to-play game. The decision to make the game free-to-play came after the developers took player feedback into account and made changes to enhance the game. As part of the relaunch, a premium content update known as the Werewolf Pack will also be introduced. Additionally, World Makers revealed that Deceit 2 will be expanding to PlayStation and Xbox platforms on April 3.
Gameplay Overview
Deceit 2 is a cooperative horror game where two players are designated as “Infected” and must discreetly work against the “Innocent” players, who remain uninfected. The developers have introduced a new element to the game by incorporating a third faction known as the “Cursed,” who have unique objectives separate from the other player groups. The Cursed faction introduces a new role called “The Chemist,” whose goal is to poison other characters. Furthermore, a new map has been added in the latest update to enhance the gameplay experience.
Post-Relaunch Plans
Following the relaunch, Deceit 2 has unveiled a comprehensive content roadmap that outlines the introduction of Seasons featuring exclusive rewards. While a Season Pass is available for purchase, it is not mandatory to access all rewards. The initial Season, named “Humble Beginnings,” is scheduled to commence on April 3 in conjunction with the game’s console launch.
In a statement, James Thompson, CEO of World Makers, expressed the company’s rationale behind transitioning to a free-to-play model. Thompson emphasized that while the decision was challenging, it was deemed necessary to lower entry barriers and enable a broader audience to enjoy Deceit 2. World Makers has also pledged to offer existing players who purchased the game before the free-to-play transition the Werewolf DLC, 3 Crypt Keys, in-game currency, and a free Season One Pass as a token of gratitude for their loyal support.
