Magmic Unveils Web3 Mobile and Web Game Based on MLB License

Magmic has announced the development of a new Web3 mobile and web game that will be centered around the Major League Baseball license. The game will feature an “idle tycoon” style gameplay where players can experience what it’s like to manage and own a baseball empire.

The unveiling of this new game took place at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco. Magmic hosted an exclusive invitation-only reveal party during the event, generating anticipation for a closed beta test that will be conducted soon.

Introduction to Web3 Gaming

CEO of Magmic, Mo Agha, expressed the company’s excitement for venturing into the Web3 realm with this new game. Agha highlighted that the game will involve simulating baseball gameplay, constructing ballparks, and managing various businesses within an idyllic framework.

Magmic, based in Ottawa, Canada, is renowned for its collection of mobile games, including licensed titles like Scattergories from Hasbro. The strategic partnership with MLB for the development of this tycoon-style management game represents a significant milestone for the company.

Embracing Innovation and Web3 Technology

With a history of innovation since its establishment in 2002, Magmic has continuously pushed the boundaries of mobile game development. The integration of NFTs into titles like Passport Rummy laid the groundwork for the company’s foray into the Web3 gaming space. This move follows the recent success of UFC Fight Card Rummy, a real-money skill game that merges the appeal of Rummy with UFC sports branding.

In line with its commitment to offering an engaging gaming experience while ensuring player ownership, Magmic aims to differentiate itself in the evolving landscape of Web3 gaming. The forthcoming MLB game is slated for release in late 2024, promising a unique ballpark tycoon experience.

Adopting Blockchain Technology Responsibly

Magmic plans to leverage blockchain technology in its game development process without focusing on it as a primary business model. Agha emphasized the company’s dedication to providing a positive user experience centered around ownership rather than quick financial gains.

By incorporating blockchain as a technology tool rather than a speculative scheme, Magmic aims to create a sustainable gaming environment that resonates with players. As the Web3 gaming market evolves, Magmic remains focused on delivering high-quality, immersive experiences that prioritize player satisfaction.
