Toronto Blue Jays Face Boston Red Sox Without Bo Bichette
The Toronto Blue Jays will be facing the Boston Red Sox without their star shortstop, Bo Bichette, in the starting lineup. Bichette has been sidelined for the last two games due to right calf soreness, leaving fans concerned about his return.
Manager John Schneider provided some insight into Bichette’s condition, stating, “Hopefully, it’s not too much longer,” after Sunday’s victory over the Cleveland Guardians. The 26-year-old infielder has struggled this season, posting a .629 OPS with four home runs, 28 RBIs, and a .237 batting average.
Changes in the Lineup
With Bichette out, Isiah Kiner-Falefa will take over at shortstop, batting seventh against the Red Sox’s Nick Pivetta. Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi reported that left-handed reliever Brandon Eisert was seen in the Blue Jays’ clubhouse before the game.
Eisert, 26, has had a challenging season with a 6.35 ERA in 19 appearances for triple-A Buffalo. Despite striking out 35 batters in 22.2 innings, he has also issued 14 walks. As a former 18th-round pick in the 2019 draft, Eisert is not on the Blue Jays’ 40-man roster and would need to be added before joining the team.
