Galvanic Games Closes Down After Productive Year
Galvanic Games has just finished its most productive year ever, but unfortunately, the game studio is now shutting down.
The Seattle-based studio is known for delivering games such as “Some Distant Memory,” “Rapture Rejects,” and last fall’s “Wizard with a Gun.”
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the closure of Galvanic Games,” said Patrick Morgan, the president, and founder of Galvanic Games, in a heartfelt tweet. “Despite the promising start of ‘Wizard with a Gun,’ sales are not strong enough to sustain our studio. The past year has been particularly challenging for the gaming industry. While we had many positive discussions at events like DICE and GDC, the process of securing new projects, even in a good year, takes longer than the remaining runway we had.”
A Bittersweet Goodbye
Reflecting on the studio’s collaboration with Devolver Digital, Morgan expressed his gratitude, saying, “Working with Devolver Digital was a dream come true for us. Together, we created a game that I’m incredibly proud of. There is a certain bittersweetness in knowing that we achieved all the goals we set when we founded Galvanic in 2015. From launching unique, weird, and interesting games to collaborating with some of my favorite industry peers, all while fostering a tight-knit, productive team focused on a healthy and creative culture.”
Morgan praised the dedication, creativity, and hard work of every team member, acknowledging their extraordinary contributions to the studio’s success.
