Gaming activity is flourishing on the new Ethereum scaler Blast, with one game falling victim to an exploit while another garners positive feedback from players and boosts Blast’s most-traded token.
The game in question, Crypto Valleys, appears to have similarities with Pixels, a popular farming game on Ronin. However, Crypto Valleys focuses on keeping DeFi enthusiasts returning for more gains, while Pixels offers a more robust traditional gaming experience.
In Crypto Valleys, players buy NFT-based seeds using the YIELD token, plant them, and eventually harvest the produce to earn more YIELD. This cycle continues, providing a simple and streamlined experience with ambitious goals for the future, as outlined in the game’s documentation and social media threads.
The introduction of “gacha” elements adds excitement, offering NFT seed packs with randomized contents akin to loot boxes in popular games. The potential for significant YIELD gains from these seed packs attracts users to engage with the game and the surging token that powers it all.
The YIELD token is currently the most-traded token on Blast, with a trading volume of about $13 million in the past 24 hours. Despite experiencing fluctuations in price, the token holds a market cap of $95 million, with an initial in-game offering price of around $0.15 per token just last week.
Amid increasing interest in the game, Crypto Valleys distributed a collection of 1,500 character NFTs for free minting. These NFTs now carry a price of about 0.4 ETH, equivalent to $1,350 on the secondary market, generating over $4 million in trading volume so far.
Comparisons have been drawn between Crypto Valleys and DeFi Kingdoms, a previous crypto game integrating decentralized finance trading into a fantasy role-playing setting. However, the inclusion of gacha mechanics and the yield opportunities within the Blast ecosystem seem to have heightened player engagement and excitement.
Players can also earn Blast Gold, special points contributing to an upcoming Blast network token airdrop for users. The hype surrounding rare seeds and farming strategies on Twitter indicates a growing interest in the game, but only time will tell if players remain engaged as the digital crops and game mature.
