Immutable Games Announces Global Launch of Guild of Guardians RPG

Immutable Games revealed on Tuesday that its highly anticipated mobile role-playing game Guild of Guardians is set to be launched globally on May 15, available on both Apple’s iOS App Store and Google’s Android Play Store.

Operating on Immutable zkEVM, an Ethereum scaling network, this free-to-play crypto quest immerses players in guiding fantasy adventurers through dungeons to battle powerful foes while accumulating valuable loot. Leading up to the game’s release, Guild of Guardians has already attracted over a million pre-registered players.

Introduction of The Altar of Sacrifice System

Prior to the global debut, Guild of Guardians will introduce a novel on-chain crafting mechanism, The Altar of Sacrifice, on March 25. This innovative system enables players to combine and collect NFTs to unlock new rewards. On March 25, the first “Altar Event” named Eri’s Grand Opening will enable players to obtain and “sacrifice” special NFTs, resulting in the creation of in-game characters.

Immutable Games Chief Studio Officer Justin Hulog expressed his enthusiasm about these additions, stating, “These two introductions mark the first playable Web3 features in Guild of Guardians, and we are thrilled about the progress we have achieved with the game today. The capacity to ‘sacrifice’ Prayer NFTs to mint new Guardian NFTs presents limitless possibilities and introduces an entirely new dimension of strategy and competition to the game.”

Decrypt’s GG had the opportunity to experience a preview build of the game in August 2023, noting the streamlined and mobile-centric fantasy battling experience it offers. The impression was that it provided a “healthy mix of randomness and strategy that could attract RPG enthusiasts who may not have long gaming sessions on their PCs but can spare a few minutes on their mobile devices.”

Development Progress and Collaborations

Guild of Guardians has been highly anticipated for several years and has previously undergone regional soft launches. However, amidst internal changes, it fell short of a comprehensive global launch.

Notably, last year Immutable Games recommenced development on Guild of Guardians in partnership with Mineloader, a seasoned support studio renowned for its contributions to the development of prominent games like The Last of Us Part I, Metroid Prime Remastered, and Resident Evil Village.

Commenting on the development journey, Immutable Games Vice President and Guild of Guardians game director Chris Clay emphasized the importance of prioritizing quality in the game’s production. He acknowledged the challenges faced in balancing player feedback with the team’s ambitious goals to ensure the game meets the community’s expectations after years of anticipation.

Clay stated, “We understand the significance of making a strong first impression and are dedicated to delivering the Guild of Guardians community a game that reflects our commitment to quality standards. After a prolonged period of waiting, we aim to offer a gaming experience that aligns with the patience and support demonstrated by our community over the past three years.”
