Woman’s Car Sold by Dealership After Repairs

A woman in Knoxville, Tennessee found herself in a frustrating situation when a used car dealership sold her Ford Taurus after she brought it in for repairs. The car, still registered in her name, was unexpectedly taken away from her, causing significant distress.

Initial Purchase and Service Contract

Lindsey Thompson and her fiancé, Larry Cole, purchased a 2005 Ford Taurus from Cherokee Auto Sales in North Knoxville in June of 2023. They signed a service contract for 12 months or 12,000 miles, covering essential components like the drivetrain, brakes, and air conditioning. However, the car started experiencing transmission issues just a few months later.

The Unfortunate Turn of Events

After the car was towed back to Cherokee Auto Sales for repairs, Thompson and Cole were shocked to discover that their vehicle had been sold without their knowledge. Even Thompson’s license plate was returned to her, adding insult to injury.

“Too many miles on the warranty,” explained Thompson when she inquired about the sale. Despite her payments and commitment to the car, the dealership failed to return the vehicle to her, leading to further complications.

Months later, a notice from the State Department of Revenue revealed that the Taurus was still under Thompson’s name, highlighting the dealership’s negligence in handling the situation.

Seeking Resolution

Thompson is now collaborating with a legal aid attorney to explore options for reclaiming her investment or obtaining a replacement vehicle. With nearly $2,700 already invested in a car she only enjoyed for five months, Thompson is rightfully seeking justice for the unfair treatment she received.

This ongoing saga is a stark reminder of the challenges consumers face when dealing with unscrupulous practices in the automotive industry. Stay tuned for updates on how Don Dare continues to uncover the truth behind this troubling ordeal.
