Recent reports suggest that HMD, the current owner of the Nokia brand, is gearing up to launch the new iteration of the beloved 3210. Finnish retailer Gigantti may have accidentally leaked information about the upcoming release. Images obtained by Nokiamob indicate that the modern version of the 3210 will be available in cyan or yellow variants and could hit the shelves as early as May 8. This aligns with a cryptic tweet from HMD teasing the launch of an “iconic” phone this month.
Although the product listing has since been taken down, initial pricing details suggested a cost of 89 Euros (approximately $95). If the new Nokia 3210 follows in the footsteps of its predecessors, such as the Nokia 6310, we can expect upgrades like a larger screen, modern connectivity features like Bluetooth and 4G, and a nod to its roots with a “retro interface.”
Modern Features for a Nostalgic Favorite
Unlike its ancestor, the new 3210 is rumored to include a range of contemporary features. While the original model lacked a camera and headphone jack, the revamped version is said to boast a rear-facing camera, Bluetooth 5, MMS messaging capabilities, and a MicroSD card slot. The inclusion of a USB-C port for charging the 1450 mAh battery further emphasizes the device’s modernization.
In a nod to its iconic predecessor, the new Nokia 3210 is expected to retain its classic game “Snake” while integrating updated functionalities suited to the demands of the current digital landscape. HMD’s successful reissue of the Nokia 3310 over seven years ago demonstrated the enduring appeal of nostalgic mobile devices that offer respite from the distractions of modern smartphones.
While the resurgence of classic “dumb phones” has intrigued consumers seeking a break from constant connectivity, the market has seen an influx of retro-inspired devices targeting this niche demographic. From slim flip phones to exclusive releases like the Boring Phone collaboration between Heineken and Bodega, the appeal of simpler, more focused mobile experiences continues to capture the imagination of users fatigued by the excesses of social media and ubiquitous technology.
