Nyan Heroes to Relaunch Servers Following Successful Playtest
Following its initial pre-alpha demo playtest in late March and early April, Nyan Heroes, a team-based shooter with NFT assets and an upcoming token on the Solana blockchain, is set to relaunch its online servers next week. The relaunch comes as part of a renewed push to engage players through the Epic Games Store PC title.
Exciting Updates for Players
Nyan Heroes’ servers will be back online starting May 8, marking the beginning of the second pre-alpha demo playtest period. This phase will introduce a new ranked mode for players to enjoy. Creative Director and CEO Max Fu from 9 Lives Interactive shared with Decrypt that the playtest period is expected to run until May 26, with a possibility of an extension.
Play-to-Airdrop Campaign Expansion
In conjunction with the pre-alpha revival, Nyan Heroes has launched the second season of its play-to-airdrop campaign. This initiative expands the types of rewards available to players, translating into an allocation for the game’s upcoming NYAN token airdrop on Solana. The campaign includes the introduction of CATNIP points, complementing the existing MEOW points earned through gameplay.
Unlike MEOW points obtained by completing various in-game quests, CATNIP points will be based on gameplay performance, adding a multiplier to players’ airdrop allocations. These points will persist in the game across future seasons. Furthermore, players can now earn CATNIP points through social media engagement on Nyan Heroes’ play-to-airdrop dashboard.
Player Engagement and Success Metrics
According to studio reports, Nyan Heroes has garnered over 200,000 downloads on the Epic Games Store so far. During the initial pre-alpha playtest, the game saw a peak of more than 45,000 daily active users. Notably, the studio identified that 20% of these users were from the “Web2 players” category, indicating a crossover with the traditional gamer base of the Epic Games Store.
