The Readyverse: First Look at Metaverse Game World

Since the advent of the highly popular “Ready Player One,” the concept of a vast, shared metaverse has captured the collective imagination. The franchise, originating from the novel and subsequent film, is now undergoing a transformation into its own metaverse game world. Recently shared details provide a glimpse into what is to come.

Overview of The Readyverse

The Readyverse, as it is dubbed, will make its debut with a battle royale game experience called Open. A sneak peek was offered in the initial trailer, hinting at the excitement and innovation to come.

The creators of The Readyverse have confirmed that the metaverse will feature a plethora of well-known brands and intellectual properties. The teaser showcased iconic references such as the DeLorean car from the “Back to the Future” series and Reebok sneakers. The promise of interoperability is also made, although specifics are yet to be fully disclosed.

Introducing Open: The Hero Experience

Open, as the hero experience of The Readyverse, will introduce players to a realm of “nostalgia-infused biomes.” These biomes will draw inspiration from classic characters and franchises, adding a dynamic and familiar touch to the gameplay. The format is likened to a game show, bringing a blend of collaborative and competitive elements.

Players will encounter various gaming disciplines within Open, emphasizing skills such as tactical positioning, strategic shooting, and teamwork. The competitive nature of the game promises intense gameplay sessions where allies must band together for strategic advantages.

Innovative Approach to Battle Royale

While battle royale games traditionally revolve around survival challenges in a shooter format, The Readyverse’s Open appears to incorporate elements from diverse genres. Drawing inspiration from popular titles like Fortnite and PUBG, Open aims to offer a unique take on the “winner-takes-all” format.

Development and Collaboration

The development of The Readyverse is led by Walker Labs and will be published by Readyverse Studios, an affiliate of blockchain startup Futureverse. Notably, Ernest Cline, the author of “Ready Player One,” and Dan Farah, the film’s producer, are among the co-founders of the publisher. Unreal Engine 5, a robust development platform widely utilized in the industry, is being employed in the creation of the game.

The trailer also features visuals from NFT projects Cool Cats and Fluf World, indicating a strategic alignment with Futureverse. The integration of iconic consoles like the Atari 2600, Nintendo Entertainment System, and Sony PlayStation hints at a diverse and nostalgic gaming experience in The Readyverse.

Release and Platforms

Open is slated for release on PC and “current-gen platforms,” with potential availability on unspecified console systems. While The Readyverse was previously announced to debut in 2024, specific launch dates for either the platform or Open have yet to be disclosed.
