Introduction to Stability AI’s Stable Artisan Discord Bot Service
Stability AI has introduced its cutting-edge generative AI technology for text and video content to Discord with the launch of the Stable Artisan Discord bot service. This innovative service enables users to create images using Stable Diffusion 3 (SD3) and videos with Stable Video Diffusion (SVD) through a dedicated Discord bot. The concept of utilizing Discord as an interface for AI-generated content mirrors a strategy implemented by competing gen AI image service Midjourney since its inception in 2022.
Accessing Core Models and Services
Previously, Stability AI provided access to its primary Stable Diffusion models through an API accessible to developers. The core model’s weights were also accessible on HuggingFace. Until February 22 of the current year, Stable Diffusion could be accessed through the Clipdrop web service, which is now under the ownership of gen AI startup Jasper. Conversely, Stable Video remains accessible through the StableVideo.com website, managed by Stability AI.
According to Christian Laforte, co-CEO and CTO of Stability AI, the initial release of Stable Artisan aims to evaluate user engagement and ensure the Discord bot’s functionality meets the company’s rigorous standards before incorporating additional features.
Subscription Plans and Pricing
While individuals do not require membership to utilize the service, utilizing the Stable Artisan Discord bot service is subject to a subscription fee. The service offers a 3-day free trial period to new users. Users can choose from multiple subscription plans, with the standard plan priced at $9 per month, offering 900 credits, up to the $99 premium plan, providing 1,200 credits monthly.
Stability AI’s API employs a credit system to determine the value of each image generation. Image generation using SD3 consumes 6.5 credits, while the older, yet proficient Stable Diffusion core model consumes only 3 credits per generation. Video generation is priced at 20 credits per instance.
Usage and Account Creation
To access the Stable Artisan Discord bot service, users can register an account on the Stability AI website and subsequently engage with the Discord server. Notably, the service is independent of the Stability AI Membership program introduced at the end of 2023.
Key Features of Stable Artisan Discord Bot
The Stable Artisan Discord bot service offers various editing and customization features beyond basic image generation. These functionalities are akin to those previously available through Stability AI’s Clipdrop web service and include:
- Search and Replace: Users can replace identified objects in images using simple prompts without the need for manual segmentation
- Remove Background: Efficiently removes image backgrounds while preserving foreground elements
- Creative Upscale: Enhances the resolution of low-quality images up to 4K

Upcoming Features: Stable Assistant
While the Stable Artisan service expands access to Stability AI’s image generation models, other products are on the horizon. Notably, Stable Artisan does not currently provide access to Stable Audio, which was introduced last month through APIs and the StableAudio.com website. Stability AI is actively developing additional models for code and text generation, including Stable Code and Stable LM.
One notable project in progress is Stable Assistant, a conversational chatbot concept leveraging text-to-image and large language model (LLM) technologies. This innovative tool aims to assist users with various tasks through natural language conversations, setting the stage for enhanced user interaction and engagement.
