Senator Marco Rubio Expertly Defends Himself Against Ambush Questions by ABC Host

During an interview on ABC’s This Week, host Jonathan Karl attempted to pressure Senator Rubio into speaking negatively about President Trump. Karl began by mentioning reports about Rubio’s potential consideration as Trump’s running mate and expressed surprise that Rubio would be open to such an opportunity.

Rubio responded calmly, stating that anyone should feel honored by the chance to serve the country, and being VP is a way to do so. He highlighted that he had not spoken to Trump yet and emphasized that there are numerous strong candidates for the VP position.

Undeterred, Karl shifted the conversation to the events of January 6, trying to paint serving as VP under Trump in a negative light. However, Rubio swiftly defended Trump’s accomplishments and criticized Joe Biden’s failures, particularly in foreign policy.

The host seemed taken aback when Rubio implied that Biden was responsible for global challenges and made another attempt to provoke Rubio into criticizing Trump.

Remaining steadfast in his position, Rubio continued to support Trump and point out Biden’s shortcomings to the ABC audience, delivering a dose of unfiltered political reality that viewers may not be accustomed to.

ABC Host Left Stuttering as Rubio Stands Firm

Despite Karl’s attempts to discredit Rubio, the Senator stood his ground and left the host stammering and confused in the face of Rubio’s unwavering responses.

Notable Exchanges during the Interview:

  • Jonathan Karl: There was some reporting this week that you are possibly under consideration to be Donald Trump’s running mate. Would it really be an honor to be offered a spot on this ticket?

Marco Rubio: Anyone who’s offered the opportunity to serve the country as vice president should find it honorable. I’m in the Senate to serve the country, and being VP is an important way to do so.

  • Jonathan Karl: Look what happened to the last guy. A mob stormed the Capitol, literally calling to hang Mike Pence, and Trump defended those chants.

Marco Rubio: Under Trump’s presidency, the country was safer and more prosperous. I believe our nation and the world were in a better state during his tenure.

  • Jonathan Karl: Are you suggesting that all current crises are solely Biden’s fault?

Marco Rubio: Absolutely. Biden’s leadership has led to numerous conflicts and failures, both domestically and internationally.

Conclusion

If President Trump watched this interview, he likely appreciated Senator Rubio’s confident defense against Karl’s ambush questions. Rubio showcased his growth since the 2016 Presidential primary, proving his ability to handle challenging situations with finesse.
